Purpose The
purpose of this online document is to provide a guide for all those involved in
the recruiting and hiring process at MTD. This document takes you from
identifying the staffing need, through preparing for the new employee's first
day. It does not address programs designed for the new hire (such as training,
mentoring, etc.) beyond the first day. The document is a useful resource for
all MTD hiring processes, based on the guidelines for recruiting college hires
and external experienced hires. It provides useful information and links to
resources for hiring throughout MTD. |

"People are the life
blood of our company. It's very important that we bring in young people who
have fresh knowledge, high energy and lots of talent in order to keep this
great thing we have going now...well into the future."

History This
document was originally created to describe the hiring process used in the MTD
Marketing department for fiscal years 1995, 1996, and
1997. In 1998, the document was updated
in response to diversity recruiting and retention issues within MTD. The
Diversity Recruiting Team was formed, and a subset of that group began to
review the MTD hiring process. This subset group became the committee known as
the MTD
College/SEED Recruiting Committee. This committee made recommendations for
changes in the approach to recruiting college and SEED students, and the
appropriate changes were incorporated into the recruiting practices across MTD.
Those changes are reflected in this document as they apply to recruiting and
the hiring practices of MTD in general. |
